This character is based on the Irish god Buile Suibhne, who is often called ” Mad Sweeney ” in translation. In the myth, Suibhne was a king and a warrior who was given a rock to protect. Just a rock. That drove him mad , which gave him a kind of power.
One of the members who had left ‘ American Gods ‘ after season 2 happened to be Pablo Schreiber and the role that he had portrayed was that of Mad Sweeney , a leprechaun. At the end of season 2, however, Mad Sweeney died and Laura had promised that she will exact revenge for the same.

World , or even a New God, at all. As we learn in the climax of the novel, he is actually Loki in disguise, who’s running a very long and elaborate con with Mr . Wednesday to pit Gods against one another and feed off the ensuing battle, which would be dedicated to Odin. “It’s not about sides,” he says to Laura.

Slowly but surely, Shadow has been able to do some extraordinary things, even if it’s hard to pin down what that means with any kind of specificity. He occasionally has prophetic dreams and knows about events before they happen. He also has a very strong, mystical connection to Laura .
Shadow has many roles. Near the end of the book, while Shadow is hanging on the World Tree, he has a vision of Wednesday and his mother getting together. Through this vision Shadow discovers that he is Odin’s son . Of all of Odin’s sons it seems most likely that Shadow is Baldr, the “shining God” and the good son .
