The basic forms of prayer are adoration , contrition , thanksgiving and supplication, abbreviated as A.C.T.S. The Liturgy of the Hours, the seven canonical hours of the Catholic Church prayed at fixed prayer times, is recited daily by clergy, religious and devout believers.
The Lord’s Prayer appears in two of the four Gospels: Matthew (6:9-13) and Luke (11:2-4). Scholars generally believe that those two Gospel writers got the prayer from a source, never found but labeled “Q” by researchers. The wording varies, however, in Luke and Matthew.
So Jesus gave them the Lord’s Prayer . “ Our Father which art in heaven” means we’re praying to our Heavenly Father who lives in heaven. When Jesus first teaches the prayer he says when you pray say ” Our Father “. All prayer has to acknowledge our need of forgiveness and our need to forgive. So it’s not so much that there would be other ways of saying it, we say those words simply because Jesus told us to.

Hallowed means to keep holy and set apart. We might ask, “Isn’t God’s name already holy?” And, most certainly it is. What then do we ask of the LORD God when we ask that His name be kept holy? “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name .”
Tips When talking to God make sure you do so in a way that feels most comfortable to you. When writing to God , make sure to use pen and paper. It’s ideal to find a quiet space to talk to God . Read your religious scripture if that is your source of faith. To talk to God , open up your heart.
