Prayer is a way of relating: to God, to ourselves, to those around us. In opening our hearts and minds and souls to God we are challenged to grow, change, and to love. Just as we make time to spend with those we love, so in making time to pray we are seeking to grow in our relationship with the Divine.

Prayer is a very important part of a Christian’s life. I’ve been told that there are over 650 different prayers recorded in the Bible. Although there may be many different types of prayer , I am only going to discuss six types in today’s SDD.
confession – owning up to sin and asking for God’s mercy and forgiveness. thanksgiving – thanking God for his many blessings, eg health or children. petition – asking God for something, eg healing, courage or wisdom. intercession – asking God to help others who need it, eg the sick, poor, those suffering in war.
God, through prayer , opens eyes, changes hearts, heals wounds, and grants wisdom (James 1:5). When we take the time to pray , we acknowledge our dependence upon the Lord and his grace and mercy. We can’t fight our battles without Him. God doesn’t need your prayers because He knows exactly what you need before you even ask, but we need Him in our lives so desperately.
