Now I lay me down to sleep , I pray the Lord my soul to keep, watch and guard me through the night, and wake me with the morning light.
Bedtime Prayer I pray that you would forgive the sins I have committed today and that you would keep me safe throughout the night . I commit my whole self, mind, body, and soul to you. Watch over me as I sleep, protect me from evil, and equip me with the strength I need for tomorrow. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
The most common prayer among Christians is the ” Lord’s Prayer “, which according to the gospel accounts (e.g. Matthew 6:9-13) is how Jesus taught his disciples to pray.
But if you can stand, the prayer protocol is that one must stand to offer the prayer and if you can sit but can ‘t stand, then sitting is acceptable etc. However, if you want to offer the prayer lying in bed even if you can stand or sit, it’s between you and God. You can pray anywhere.
Loving God , I pray that you will comfort me in my suffering, lend skill to the hands of my healers, and bless the means used for my cure. Give me such confidence in the power of your grace, that even when I am afraid, I may put my whole trust in you; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Is praying to God in your head the same as praying to God out loud? No. Although both forms of prayer have their own significance, their own time and place. If your prayer takes on the form of meditation, it is going to be an inner conversation with God, a silent ”in your head ” prayer .
By praying every night , it gives you that chance to feel loved and supported every single day. That is something we all need to feel on a daily basis. When you take the time to pray at night , you ‘ re setting yourself up for a good night’s rest. You can ask for answers in your dreams and then look for them!
Dear Lord, Help me remember what a difference it makes when I make time with You a priority in my morning. Awaken me in body and spirit each day with a desire to meet with You and to hear You speak words of affirmation, assurance, and wisdom over my heart as I prepare to go into my day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Tips When talking to God make sure you do so in a way that feels most comfortable to you. When writing to God , make sure to use pen and paper. It’s ideal to find a quiet space to talk to God . Read your religious scripture if that is your source of faith. To talk to God , open up your heart.
Jesus said, “ Sleep and take your rest later on” (Matthew 26:45). There’s a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1). While sleeping in place of physically working is definitely condemned in the Bible , perhaps what is even more hurtful to ourselves is when we sleep in place of prayer.

Praying on a mat is not a requirement of the prayer . You do not have to pray on a prayer mat or rug . As long as the place is clean and free from impurities you can pray there and you don’t need a mat .
God’s message for me today is always one of love, acceptance, and affirmation. The father simply says, “Welcome home, let’s eat!” And that is God’s message for me today .
