The Bible speaks of watches , which are precise times of the day or night in which you pray. Essentially, eight watches cover 24 hours a day. Every prayer watch has a targeted goal. This is why you may find yourself frequently led to pray at particular times of the day or evening.
The phrase ‘ watches of the night ‘ has been used since at least the Book of Common Prayer (1662), and dates back further: “the watches of the night : the night -time; watch originally each of the three or four periods of time, during which a watch or guard was kept, into which the night was divided by the Jews and Romans”
This fourth watch is always important because this is the last watch of the night . This watch is the time that satanic agents who went out to perform their activities are returning to their bases. This is the time of the morning when the Israelites were delivered from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12 and 14).
This is the period to pray for God’s provision to be released (Luke 11:5-13; Acts 16:3). It is also time for miracles and for applying the Blood of Jesus. Often, we are awakened during this time with dreams God has given to us.
