I pray that You would go before me today. Please take down all that the devil is scheming to attack me with. Prepare my heart and mind this morning for whatever I will face today. Help me put on my armor firmly and securely, so that I’m ready for battle.

The phrase ” Armor of God ” (Greek: πανοπλίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, panoplian tou Theou) is derived from Ephesians 6:11: “Put on the whole armour of God , that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (King James Version).

Put on the whole armor of God , that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. TRiPS stands for: Truth (belt) Righteousness (breastplate) Peace (the good news of peace – shoes) Salvation (Helmet).
Ephesians 6:10-20 Put on the whole armor of God , that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
As believers, we are constantly in a war. God provides us with the armor we need to fight these spiritual battles. He gives us the belt of truth, body armor of righteousness, shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit.
68, a1, Saint Thomas Aquinas says that four of these gifts (wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and counsel) direct the intellect, while the other three gifts ( fortitude , piety, and fear of the Lord ) direct the will toward God.
The fourth piece of armor Paul discusses in Ephesians 6 is the shield of faith . He tells us to take up the shield of faith in order to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. To have faith is to believe God created the world and sent His only Son to die for our sins so we might have eternal life.
Having our feet fitted with the shoes of the gospel of peace allows us to be ready to share God with others at all times. As Christians, we should always be prepared, as we never know when an opportunity may arise to share the good news of the gospel with someone else.

Formerly, when the Disciples had gone out, on mission, they had not lacked anything. Now they would need a purse, a bag and even a sword . The saying is heavily ironical, for Jesus knew that now He would have to face universal opposition and be put to death.
