The Lord’s Prayer appears in two of the four Gospels: Matthew (6:9-13) and Luke (11:2-4).
The Lord’s Prayer appears in two places in the Bible. In the book of Luke, Jesus was praying , apparently by himself, and when he had finished one of the disciples asked him, “ Lord , teach us how to pray the way John taught his disciples,” referring to John the Baptist.
Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer appears to be simple because it is shorter than Matthew’s version and it is shorter than the version that most people are familiar with. In general, prayer is not simple and Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer is not simple either.
It’s neither necessary nor was it only for disciples. It’s a model for how we can pray (praise, requests, forgiveness, thanks). It is gooed to pray together wirh others the Lord’s prayer because you unite with the same words. Oherwise you can pray whatever is on your heart.
Pray then in this way (Matthew 6:9 NRSV) When you pray, say Lord’s Prayer.

It’s always prayed from where Jesus stands. So real Christian praying is standing with Jesus and saying to God the words that Jesus would say to God, Father. All prayer has to be like that for Christians. All prayer has to acknowledge our need of forgiveness and our need to forgive.

In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: But when ye pray , use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. In praying , don’t use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do ; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
I hope they will encourage you to make 2021 a year of prayer . Know to whom you are speaking. Thank him. Ask for God’s will. Say what you need. Ask for forgiveness. Pray with a friend. Pray the Word. Memorize Scripture.
