Third Step Prayer God , I offer myself to Thee — to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
It says in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous , page 84 “And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone – even alcohol,” We have to be reminded that we have offered our self to God, and he is now in the driver’s seat.
Step three is defined as “(to make) a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

The Ninth Step Promises We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
Promises of Step Eleven We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show, humbly saying to ourselves many times each day “Thy will be done.” We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient.
God , grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
We begin to live our lives by the principles of Honesty, Open-Mindedness, Willingness, Trust, Surrender and Faith . As we live Step Three in our daily lives, we do our best to do the right thing for the right reason.
Why is making a decision central to working this step ? In order to have life run relatively smoothly, one cannot stop the tide or flow of a moving body of water. It is important to bend, flex and move with the current, or forever bash your head against a brick wall.
God’s will is defined as the actions taken or words spoken based on love, selflessness, honesty and purity. Self- will is the action taken or words spoken with the ego and the determination to have one’s way, to get what is most desired and at times no matter what the cost.
1,2. A moral inventory is a written objective assessment of your life , including character deficits, strengths and weaknesses, and an overarching look at the damage you’ve caused with your addiction. This step, although difficult, is an important part of achieving long-term sobriety in drug rehab.
I hope they will encourage you to make 2021 a year of prayer . Know to whom you are speaking. Thank him. Ask for God’s will. Say what you need. Ask for forgiveness. Pray with a friend. Pray the Word. Memorize Scripture.
