DISCERNMENT PRAYER – No. Dear God, please guide my steps not to seek counsels from ungodly people. Assist me to seek godly counselors who may guide me into making right decisions. Help me to prayerfully consider any counsel before I take an action. Do not let me rush into judgment and regret afterward.
Heavenly Father, I don’t want to keep on making mistakes and wrong turns in life, give me the Spirit of wisdom and discernment so that I can know those hidden wisdom that has been prepared for my glory.
Vocational discernment is the process in which men or women in the Catholic Church discern , or recognize, their vocation in the church. The vocations are the life as layman in the world, either married or single, the ordained life and the consecrated life.
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” So you can pray for more wisdom and discernment . You can also get more discernment by reading the Bible.
Apostle Paul mentions the gift of discerning of spirits in 1 Cor. 12:10. St. John Chrysostom in the interpretation of this passage says that these words mean the ability to tell who is spiritual and who is not, who is prophet and who is not since at the time of Apostle Paul, there were false prophets deluding people.
Discernment is defined as the ability to notice the fine-point details, the ability to judge something well or the ability to understand and comprehend something. Noticing the distinctive details in a painting and understanding what makes art good and bad is an example of discernment .
A Prayer to Heal Stress Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you’ve laid out for me. I trust your Love God, and know that you will heal this stress. Just as the sun rises each day against the dark of night. Please bring me clarity with the light of God.
Wisdom. Wisdom is considered the first and the greatest of the gifts . It acts upon both the intellect and the will. According to St. Bernard, it both illumines the mind and instills an attraction to the divine.
The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13) is Christ’s response. I hope they will encourage you to make 2021 a year of prayer . Know to whom you are speaking. Thank him. Ask for God’s will. Say what you need. Ask for forgiveness. Pray with a friend. Pray the Word. Memorize Scripture.
There are seven steps of discernment to be followed that include identifying the issue, taking time to pray about the choice, making a wholehearted decision, discussing the choice with a mentor and then finally trusting the decision made.
God wants us to choose, because we love him and want to obey him, to make our decisions within the overall blueprint of his will. It is the Holy Spirit who can guide our choices even as we have freedom to make them. But when all is said and done, each of us must make every decision , whether big or small, for ourselves.
Pondering and noticing interior movements of attraction and heaviness are at the heart of Ignatian discernment . Discernment involves prayer and weighing facts and feelings about the several good choices which ultimately leads to a choice about what is the best fit for an individual.
It also involves moral discernment , which is a significant human trait. This is the ability to perceive and evaluate the quality of actions and behaviors from the perspective of good and evil. We encounter different activities in life.
The Bible has much to say about a proper spirituality . Rather, the term “ spirituality ” as applied to biblical faith is here understood to refer to that relationship between God and man that can be summed up under four headings : holiness, the gift of the Spirit, life in the Spirit and the discipline of the Spirit.
