Pray Psalm 91 to Abide in Christ Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” The words dwell, rest, refuge, and fortress are words that mean we are to abide in the Lord.

The psalm begins with a promise to those who remain, inhabit, and abide (H3427, yashab) in the hiding place or shelter (H5643 sether) of the Most High God. They will “stay permanently” (Strong’s H3885 lun) in the shadowing protection (H6738 tsel) of El Shaddai.
Psalm 91 is a protection Scripture that believers have turned to for thousands of years whenever there is danger. As the Times of Trouble are upon us, the prayer of Psalm 91 is comforting and effective when prayed from the heart by those who love God and are in relationship with Him.
Pestilence means a deadly and overwhelming disease that affects an entire community. The Black Plague, a disease that killed over thirty percent of Europe’s population, was certainly a pestilence . Pestilence is also one of the four Horseman of the Apocalypse in the book of Revelation (which is part of The Bible).
Synonyms would be: reside, live, be settled, be housed, lodge, stay. So, to abide under the protection of the Almighty, we must dwell in the secret place ! The secret place is not defined as under His wing, or “the shadow of the Almighty,” but it is the place we must dwell so that we can abide there.

When spiritual truth is pondered, it places us under the shadow (shelter, covering) of God. “Under the shadow of the Almighty ” can mean “in the presence of God.” God is always surrounding you. In His presence all good is yours. Understanding this enables you to be at peace, whatever your present circumstances.

Dwelling in God demands interaction, communication, time and trust. This means you need to get to know Him and discover the truth of His word, the Bible. You need interaction that is known as prayer, telling Him what’s happening in your life, then listening quietly to the voice of His Holy Spirit.
Loving God, I pray that you will comfort me in my suffering, lend skill to the hands of my healers, and bless the means used for my cure. Give me such confidence in the power of your grace, that even when I am afraid, I may put my whole trust in you; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Protection from the Evil One Prayer I come to Your refuge with joy for You shelter me against the attack of the devil. Protect me, O Lord, from the craftiness of the enemy, and save me from his evil plots. Cover me with Your presence when I feel weak so that he will flee from my presence. Amen.
