Pastor: Thanks be to you, O God, for your presence and your purpose, for your loving kindness and your steadfast Spirit. May the blessings of this table strengthen our faith, increase our generosity and unify our hearts, for we pray in the name of Jesus, the Risen One. Amen. We pray in the name of Jesus.
In Jesus’ Name, say , “I believe and receive.” Then eat the bread. Next, take the cup in your hand and say : Lord Jesus, thank you for your precious blood.
After opening the prayer we tell our Father in Heaven what we are thankful for. You can start by saying , ” I thank thee” or ” I am grateful for.” We show our gratitude to our Father by telling him in our prayer what we are thankful for; such as our home, family, health, the earth and other blessings.
So, the only thing that we have to say in the prayers during the Lord’s Supper is: “Thank you for this bread,” and “Thank you for this fruit of the vine.” We may say other things, but these are the only things that are required by Jesus example.
The basic forms of prayer are adoration , contrition , thanksgiving and supplication, abbreviated as A.C.T.S. The Liturgy of the Hours, the seven canonical hours of the Catholic Church prayed at fixed prayer times, is recited daily by clergy, religious and devout believers.
A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine.
With the exception of Churches of the Armenian Rite and the Maronite Church, Orthodox Churches and Eastern Catholic Churches use leavened bread for the Eucharist .
So in the end, taking communion at home should not be something you are doing because you cannot get along with people or the leadership of your local church. The reason you are taking communion at home should be because you are UNABLE to receive communion at a local church.
Communion in One Kind The Roman Catholic Church withholds the cup from the laity on the ground that Christ is totally present in either element. In the Roman Catholic churches to-day the wine used in the chalice is always fermented and mixed with water . The use of grape-juice is held valid, but never licit.
I hope they will encourage you to make 2021 a year of prayer . Know to whom you are speaking. Thank him. Ask for God’s will. Say what you need. Ask for forgiveness. Pray with a friend. Pray the Word. Memorize Scripture.
You can either pray your prayers in your mind or speak them out loud. God is able to hear your prayers either way!
The Bible offers at least 10 ways to pray when we don’t know what to pray for. Pray the Scriptures. Pray for the Lord’s will to be done. Pray for wisdom. Pray for repentance from sin. Pray for the salvation of the lost. Pray for spiritual growth. Pray for the unity of the brethren. Pray for increased faith.
Supplication (also known as petitioning) is a form of prayer , wherein one party humbly or earnestly asks another party to provide something, either for the party who is doing the supplicating (e.g., “Please spare my life.”) or on behalf of someone else.
