Pray for Saint Bernadette , that like you , we may always be obedient to the will of Our Heavenly Father, and that through our prayers and humility we may bring consolation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary that have been so grievously wounded by our sins.
She was declared venerable by Pope Pius X in 1913 and beatified on June 14, 1925, by Pope Pius XI, who also declared her saint on December 8, 1933. Saint Bernadette is the patron of the ill, poor, sheep tenders and those ridiculed for their piety. Her feast day is February 18.
” Saint Joseph, Patron of departed souls – pray for me. (Mention your intention) Amen.”
The Lourdes water is freely available at the Grotto itself or at the fountains close to the candles. Fill it and take it with you.
St. Michael the Archangel – against danger at sea, against temptations, holy death, sick people, storms at sea, police officers.
On February 25th the Lady told Bernadette to drink the water of a spring that flowed under her rock. Speaking to Bernadette in the local Lourdes patois, she said ‘I am the Immaculate Conception’. The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception had been proclaimed only a few years before, in 1854.
Saint Dymphna is the Patron Saint of Stress, Anxiety and Mental Health.
On her deathbed, as she suffered from severe pain and in keeping with the Virgin Mary’s admonition of “Penance, Penance, Penance,” Bernadette proclaimed that “all this is good for Heaven!” Her final words were, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me, a poor sinner, a poor sinner”.
Saint Bernadette’s first symbol was a rose, it represented the beauty of saint Bernadette’s actions and the thorns represent the sorrow and pain she faced.

” Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.”
The water is collected in a cistern, and dispensed via a system of taps near the shrine, where pilgrims may drink it or collect it in bottles or other containers to take with them. The original spring can be seen within the Grotto, lit from below, and protected by a glass screen.
Since 1858, there have been 69 verified miracles or cures in Lourdes .
A total of 67 miraculous healings have been recognised at Lourdes since 1858, when a 14-year-old peasant girl claimed that she had seen the Virgin Mary in a cave. However, there have only been four miracles since 1978, the most recent last year when an Italian woman was said to have been healed of acute rheumatism.
