Receive the Precious Blood. After receiving the host, you may choose to receive the Blood of Christ. Take a small drink from the chalice that is offered to you . The person offering the cup will say “the Blood of Christ,” and you should respond (as above) with a bow and a proclamation of your faith: “Amen.”
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Bless us, oh Lord , and these Thy gifts which we are about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord .
In John 6:53-54, Jesus tells us that unless one eats his body and drink his blood, we have no life. “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” He adds in John 6:54-56 that his body is food and his blood, a drink.
A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine.
Church teaching holds that unless divorced Catholics receive an annulment — or a church decree that their first marriage was invalid — they are committing adultery and cannot receive Communion .
O Gracious God , we give you thanks for your overflowing generosity to us. Thank you for the blessings of the food we eat and especially for this feast today. Thank you for our home and family and friends, especially for the presence of those gathered here. Thank you for our health, our work, and our play.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving , present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Dear Father, I thank you for answered prayers (mention the answer to the prayer you received). Heavenly Father, thank you for always hearing and answering my prayers whenever I pray . Father thank you for loving me this much. Thank you for always being faithful to me.
Pastor: Thanks be to you, O God, for your presence and your purpose, for your loving kindness and your steadfast Spirit. May the blessings of this table strengthen our faith, increase our generosity and unify our hearts, for we pray in the name of Jesus, the Risen One. Amen. We pray in the name of Jesus.
When there is strife, division, self-centeredness going on when people are taking communion , then they bring the judgment of God upon them. They are not real. So in the end, taking communion at home should not be something you are doing because you cannot get along with people or the leadership of your local church.
Practitioners. Most Protestant churches practise open communion , although many require that the communicant be a baptized Christian. The official policy of the Episcopal Church is to only invite baptized persons to receive communion .
They join the long-standing evils of lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth, anger, envy and pride as mortal sins – the gravest kind, which threaten the soul with eternal damnation unless absolved before death through confession or penitence.
In the Corinthian assembly, eating and drinking in an unworthy manner meant eating and drinking excessively at the communal meal, with the result that other brothers went hungry. Other forms of partaking unworthily could be imagined, but it is only a sin in the manner of partaking communion that is spoken of.
Therefore, anyone who is conscious of having committed an actual mortal sin, and who has not yet been to confession, generally cannot receive Holy Communion . (For a grave reason, and if such a person is repentant, he may say an act of perfect contrition, returning him to a state of grace, and then receive Communion .)
