The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16, NASB: “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person , when it is brought about, can accomplish much.”
That is prayer that works. That is prayer that has force. That is prayer that is powerful. The word ” availeth ” is the Greek word “ischuo” from the root word “ischus.” God’s Word is its own context for study.
Righteousness is one of the chief attributes of God as portrayed in the Hebrew Bible . Its chief meaning concerns ethical conduct (for example, Leviticus 19:36; Deuteronomy 25:1; Psalm 1:6; Proverbs 8:20). In the Book of Job the title character is introduced to us as a person who is perfect in righteousness .
The most important key to a vibrant prayer life is to understand our spiritual authority in Christ as explained in the Scriptures. The primary difference between the righteous man’s reward and the prophet’s reward is that the righteous man receives a reward according to the established word of God while the prophet receives a reward according to the present word of God. As with the reward for righteousness , this reward requires effort to receive.

Loving God, I pray that you will comfort me in my suffering, lend skill to the hands of my healers, and bless the means used for my cure. Give me such confidence in the power of your grace, that even when I am afraid, I may put my whole trust in you; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
To be justified (or declared righteous ) by the Law is to seek to be righteous before God by keeping the Law of Moses. In other words, it is to be righteous by works. And the Bible says that no man can be justified before God by works.

Looking at verses 1-3 we can learn 10 things about the righteous man . He is happy. He does not walk in the counsel of the wicked. He does not stand in the path of sinners. He does not sit in the seat of scoffers. His delight is in the law of the Lord. He meditates day and night in God’s law.
