We turn to prayer because it is the most personal way to experience God , to encounter Him and to grow in knowledge of Him. According to the book of Ephesians, God’s desire is for us to pray “on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18).
He cherishes us over all His creation. He is our Dad and He cares for our every need and circumstance. Next Jesus says we should pray “hallowed be your name.” This is essentially a declaration of praise to God for His perfect nature. Prayer is a way of relating: to God , to ourselves, to those around us. In opening our hearts and minds and souls to God we are challenged to grow, change, and to love. Just as we make time to spend with those we love, so in making time to pray we are seeking to grow in our relationship with the Divine.
The necessity of prayer for the realization of salvation is brought to light in the acts and teachings of Jesus. Thus, He exhorted His disciples to pray always and not loose heart.
