The biblical text which speaks of Jesus promising his presence with two or three gathered together is Matthew 18:20. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them” (NRSV). But the context of that text has nothing to do with prayer or worship. It’s not a gathering for prayer or worship.

First, the common answer is: No, Christians cannot forsake gathering together (Hebrew 10:25). Members should attend every Sunday possible to worship their sovereign and enjoy the assembly of the saints. Of course, this assembly is not perfect. But this body of people is unlike any other gathering on the planet.
After all, the Bible does say that Christians are to meet together and that Christians are supposed to worship God. The simple fact is, the New Testament no where states that the reason for Christians to assemble is so that they can worship together!

This joining of the minds, most times will actually make the prayer a reality. Praying alone is self reflective in nature, helps you improve yourself and feel closer to god.
When you pray together with other Christians, you fight against disunity in the church and promote unity among followers of Jesus Christ. When you pray together with other Christians, you encourage a weaker sister by your approach to God on her behalf.
